See below for a message from Pastor Angel:
St. John Family,
We are canceling church, this Sunday, March 15th and all church activities at least until Friday, March 20th in light of the governor’s closing of ohio schools and banning of large gatherings. We aren’t over 100 people on a typical Sunday, but we can get close. We will reassess based on updated recommendations at the end of the week.
Junior youth roller skating will be rescheduled for a date in April.
This seems like a drastic measure in that we haven’t heard of cases in our immediate area, but there is a lot unknown about the spread of Covid-19. Scientists are saying that it is likely that most of us may get the virus eventually but avoiding large gatherings can slow the spread which will give over-taxed healthcare systems a chance to catch up so they can give everyone the care they need.
Many of us might not be worried about catching this virus. I am pretty healthy, with a decent immune system and if my kids get it, it is likely to be very mild. But there are those among us for whom it could be very dangerous. Staying home this Sunday and possibly in the future is a way to love our neighbor!
I will broadcast our readings and a message on Sunday morning on the church Facebook page, so we can worship together remotely. If that’s not something with which you are familiar, give me a call, 419-496-3194 and I can help you set it up. Also, consider mailing your weekly offering so you don’t forget or putting it aside somewhere to bring the next time we do have church, as our budget often suffers when we have to cancel!
Again, our choice to cancel is not a panic, rather a precaution and we rest in the certainty that we are always in the palm of God’s hand and our security rests in the cross of Christ alone! Please feel free to call me to chat about this or anything else!
